- What we collect: We typically collect your name, address, email, and phone number when you join the society.
- Why we collect it: To manage your membership, send you updates about our talks and research, send you our newsletter and process any gift aid or donations.
- Lawful Basis: we process your data based on Contract (to fulfill your membership benefits) and Legitimate Interest (to keep you informed about local history events).
- Sharing your data: We will never sell your data. We only share it with third parties if required by law (e.g. HMRC for Gift Aid). Your data will only be used by CLHS committee members for the purposes stated above.
- Retention of data: Your data will be removed from our secure file system one year from your membership lapsing or from the date you tell us you no longer wish to be a member.
- Your Rights: You can ask to see what data we hold on you, or ask us to delete it, at any time by emailing our Membership Secretary via the contact form on our website. You may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been handled improperly.
