An early copper plate strip map of the route from Exeter to Bridport via Lyme and Charmouth, from the Britannia Depicta or Ogilby Improved (John Ogliby had been published the first British road atlas in 1675)published by Thomas Bowles in 1720 which contained 273 strip road maps engraved by Emmanuel Bowen with additional historical and heraldic information provided by John Owen.
